Plenty of snow here. We got out before first light.
Here we are meeting in the parking lot of a convenience store at 7:00. It is 13 degrees below zero.
Here I am painting That is a frozen Moxie in the back of my box. I have new Realtree camo pantsuit on.
Here are T.M Nicholas and I, T.M. is painting a 40" by 40". Outside in minus 10 degree weather, that is a herculean feat, very physical, that's a lot of canvas to cover.
Here we are all strung out in a line. This is only some of us, the rest are on another location down the road. We had ten on this trip. This is not Snowcamp, by the way, it is just friends painting together.
Here is my days effort. This is a 24"by 30". I will work this up in the studio, if I don't crash it, I will show you the finished picture.

Looks like a lot of fun Stape.
That 40x40 TM has going is insane. My hat is off to all of you guys. For painting in that cold and for doing it so big.
These are awesome photos, Stape! I wish they were bigger.
I agree with Frankie on that. Good job, reminds me I should be painting larger outside.
A wonderful painting, Stape! It has so much mood. I enjoy your blog every day.
Nice "pantsuit"...
How on earth did you get that orange hat??
I don't think you ever joined the "Nieuwjaarsduik" here in The Netherlands.
It does suits you, but you won't get noticed here in Holland.
Nieuwjaarsduik <
great post Stape, makes me want to try some outdoor stuff.
I like that painting alot, Stape.
Stape, I've got to hand it to you, you're a die hard for sure! The sun on the snow can be beautiful, but I haven't set my easel up in it yet...
The Realtree pants are a great idea. no one at church will notice the paint on them.
Please show the finish on that one. It's really good just the way it is. You've painted the color of cold. I like the tufts of grass coming out of the lower right hand corner.
Geez! You guys are hard core. I sketch every day on my commute riding the DC Metro and the temp here just started to dip below the 30's. I can barely sketch on the platform because my hand is so numb. And I can't wear gloves when I draw. So kudos to you guys. Bad Ass.
Wow! Big paintings for the cold. You must enjoy swinging your painting arm to get warm. Perhaps you could bring along a portable generator to keep that Moxie fluid.
I love it! Your painting looks good too.
40x40 !!!! It looked good though.
Great painting Stape ! This spot looks great.
I'll throw in my dittos with Frank and Logan. This is Green Beret painting. Bravo
Wow! I've heard of tying a deer to your car, but a snow bank?!
Seeing that 40x40 on the easel says a lot!
. that easel can handle it
. TM eats his vegetables
. the journey is the goal
. no snooze no loose
. determined effort & moxie should not freeze
.Wow again!
Great pictures ! TM is my hero. I love that 40x 40. Plenty of room to splash paint in.
