Painting with some guys

I am on a painting excursion to a coastal New England village. I am painting with a group of fourteen painters from all over, but many are from California. They are all real good painters and it is a lot of fun to meet them. This is Ignat Ignatov, Paul Schulenburg, Frank Gardner standing in the cool evening air overlooking the harbor.

Ernesto Nemesio, Eric Merrill, Ian Factor listen intently to nursery rhymes told by men in clown suits.

Ignat cooking unfortunate oceanic visitors.

Dan Corey, Paul, James Coe, Ian, Frank, gather while Ignat cooks hake on the stove behind them.

Logan Hagege, Jeremy Lipking play some music, and below Jerome Green gesticulates.

Since it rained today, we all pitched in and hired a model. She was exquisite. I don't get to paint the figure often, many of these guys do it all the time. There were some nice little paintings made today.

I hope the sun shines again soon.

I still have two places open in Snowcamp. The class size is limited to ten, so if you want to come, sign up.

You're right that is a good group of painters. I love Ignat's landscapes. He sometimes uses the Zorn palette. Have fun.

They brought their guitars? Wow, these guys don't travel light.

Looks like a grand time.

Had a thought yesterday, groups like these could hold their own "wet paint" exhibits at the end of the week right in the house you're staying. But, someone would have to clean. It could be a sort of "famous roving bandits" show. I know that's not the point of this gathering, but this could be done with any group of capable artists.

Many collectors would be thrilled to fly into New England for a fall show by famous artists.

Doesn't get any better than a painting trip with friends--old & new. No one really understands painters better than painters.

That's a great group of artists to paint with. I had the pleasure of having lunch with Paul during Christmas last year. Great guy. Looking forward to seeing the paintings.

I heard about this gathering and was thrilled to see you on the roster knowing you would do a cool blog post about the excursion. I have to second the request to see photos of the works...I would love to see a Kearns figure painting too, this sounds like a cool trip. I think you are humble not to mention the grand scale of this excursion but I think you are a treasure and deserve a plug; I heard the works from this trip will be exhibited at the cape cod museum of art and in all likely hood will include a feature spread in American art collector and a show at the Addison gallery on the Cape. If this isn't accurate it's my fault of course but I'm just sayin...I'm going to try to attend the Cape Cod museum show and looking forward to seeing the paintings.
Have a blast Staple, I know I speak for the hundreds of followers on this blog when I say, wish I were there.

man that looks like fun.. and what a group you have gathered there.
On my bucket list is to learn banjo, so maybe, by the time I'm 90 (not that far off) I will have learned enough.
And, I can feel that good ol' raw New England weather just from the photos.

I always seem to like other painters. I think it selects for certain personality types.
