Another painting with a near complement palette

Here is tonight's near complement. It is red-orange, green and blue. Below is the palette I used a permanent red plus cad. yellow for the red-orange, viridian plus a little cad. yellow for the green and cobalt blue.

This palette was very easy to work on, the orange-red and the green almost formed a yellow when mixed together and the blue and the red made a nice shadow color. I could imagine actually working in this combination. The painting is below. I apologize for the glare on the painting, it was hard to shoot, wet, under my lights. This is another 5" by 7".

I have had a lot of e-mails with questions and possible crit. material, if any of it is yours, I am coming. I get more than I can actually do though, if I don't use yours I apologize. I choose those that seem to offer me the best teaching opportunity.

This series on the color wheel has been fabulous, explained in the simplest and most complete terms ever! Just pop it into the book. I'm trying to understand and utilize the difference between the Munsell color wheel and the traditional one, especially in the use of split compliments, but am still waiting for the "aah-ha" of complete comprehension.

I like the idea of using a limited pallet for the landscape. It helps keep me focused on making a choice instead of getting too picky about the so many colors I see. This choice of pigments looks like a winner for a fall landscape.

How do you like woking small?

Ok Stape! Now I'm thinking! (See how you are..)
when painting a near complement palette, can naples yellow light be substituted for titanium white?
(I've been told to stay away from white as much as possible.)
Anyway, you've turned on a light over here, thanks!

I have seen that done./ But you wouldn't be doi9ng a straight color wheel thing as you would always include a yellow.I don't like the tricksyness of it really.
