I received the E-mail below today. NO JOKE. It is very curious, as it indicates that these conformity bodies are headquartered in Mumbai. Evidently, the very bodies to which we are conformed are now assessed in India. There is another Encyclopedia Of Dumb design Ideas post, being written. The amount of research necessary to write theis simple analysis is daunting. Obviously this communique from the Raj will have to be reflected in that scholarship.

Accreditation Commission For Conformity Assessment Bodies (ACCAB) is an Independent, International Accreditation Body (AB). It works to serve the global communities of businesses and consumers.
ACCAB accredits appropriately qualified independent third party Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs) such as Certification Bodies, Inspection Bodies, and Testing & Calibration Laboratories to ensure their competence to carry out specific tasks as per the International Standards & Benchmarks.
The authority vested is ACCAB is that assigned to them by the Conformity Assessment Bodies and other Organization it accredits and recognizes by virtue of these applicant and accredited bodies pledging support for the mission and objectives of ACCAB and ensuring that their actions are according to that policy. That explains a lot, I think ... these must be the folks who accredit the inspectors who check to make sure that your construction/addition/repairs meet code. Anyone who has had that experience recently will understand that this e-mail makes perfect sense! LOL! But apparently they are responsible for accrediting EVERYTHING?
So, Stape - maybe they're wanting you to apply for international accreditation as an art instructor?
Are they assessing your body for conformity?

Hmm ... did they tell you that they are Nigerian royalty and have millions of dollars that they want to transfer to your bank account? Because this looks like that sort of thing.
We accredit conformity bodies and get our authority from the bodies we accredit.
The bodies we accredit, accredited us first, so we are accrediting the bodies who accredited us.
Our accreditation powers derive from those who we accredited, who accredited us.
If you don't accredit us, we can't accredit you.
So, it is in the best interest of conformity that you accredit us so that we can accredit you.
Oh, and we used the word "cell" so we sound edgy.

A couple questions about this post:

Does that mean "bodies" can be qualified, but not appropriate? Can they be both qualified and appropriate, but still not be accredited? Do they have to be accredited, appropriate, and qualified before they can assess conformity? What else will they have to be?

I think they have to decide that on a case by case basis obviously. The body must accredit the qualified and appropriate.
